e. IoT Sensor and Monitoring Device Data
If you subscribe to one of our digital pest monitoring services, we may deploy Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and connected monitoring devices at your property. These devices collect operational data such as device activation timestamps, activity event counts, battery status, and environmental conditions (e.g., temperature). This data is associated with your service address and customer account.
Sensor data is transmitted to our secure cloud infrastructure for analysis, reporting, and service optimization. We use this data to detect pest activity patterns, generate service reports, and improve the effectiveness of our monitoring programs. We do not sell sensor data or share it with third parties except as described in Section 4 of this policy (e.g., with service providers who help us operate and maintain the monitoring platform).
You may request deletion of sensor data associated with your account at any time by contacting us using the information in the “Contact Us” section below. Upon termination of monitoring services, sensor devices remain the property of PESTalytix, LLC and will be retrieved or decommissioned.
Please do not submit sensitive information (such as medical information, payment card or bank details, Social Security numbers, or other government identifiers) through the chat.

Your use of Ask PEST AI may also be subject to the terms and privacy policy of the AI provider.
5. SMS Messaging Policy
If you elect to receive text messages from us, we may collect your phone number. By providing your mobile number, you are expressly consenting to receive informational and promotional SMS messages from us at the number you provided. You may opt-out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any message you receive from us. After you send the “STOP” message, we will send a final message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. Message and data rates may apply.
For assistance with our SMS program, reply “HELP” to any message you receive from us. You will receive a response containing our business name, customer support contact information, and instructions for opting out. Message Frequency. Message frequency varies. For service-related messages (such as appointment confirmations, scheduling updates, inspection reminders, and service follow-ups), you may receive up to 10 messages per month depending on your active services. For marketing or promotional messages (if you have opted in), message frequency varies based on seasonal campaigns and promotions. You will not receive more than 4 marketing messages per month.
6. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
6A. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide services to you, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. The following general retention periods apply:
- Customer service records (inspection reports, treatment records, service agreements): Retained for a minimum of 7 years after the last date of service, consistent with Massachusetts business record requirements and industry best practices.
- Chat interactions with Ask PEST AI: Retained for up to 24 months, after which they are deleted or permanently de-identified.
- IoT sensor and monitoring data: Retained for the duration of your active monitoring subscription plus 12 months. Aggregated, de-identified sensor data may be retained indefinitely for research and service improvement purposes.
- Contact form submissions and general inquiries: Retained for up to 36 months from the date of submission.
- Website log and analytics data: Retained for up to 26 months.
